Middleton Accounting & Consulting serves the tax and accounting needs of individuals and small businesses in Montrose County, Ouray County, and across the Western Slope. Our CPA firm offers accounting solutions, tax planning, financial planning, and much more. Scott Middleton

scott middleton cpaScott Middleton graduated from California State University at Fullerton in 1987 earnings his Bachelor of Arts in business administration with majors in finance and accounting. He worked for both the tax and audit departments at Coopers and Lybrand, now Pricewaterhouse Coopers, and became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in November of 1990. From 1990 to 1993 Scott gained valuable private company experience as an assistant controller for ServiceCraft Corporation, a multi-million dollar warehousing and distribution company. In late 1993 he launched his public accounting practice and moved to western Colorado to start a family and enjoy the recreation and quality of life the area offers. Scott is licensed in both California and Colorado and is a member of the AICPA and Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. Scott is a licensed QuickBooks Pro Advisor and is the lead instructor in the periodic QuickBooks seminar’s conducted by Middleton Accounting. Scott is currently working on his Series 65 investment advisor license.

Scott enjoys working with small to medium sized enterprises and applying his years of comprehensive experience across a broad range of industries and diverse client issues. “I ran a sole proprietorship, I own a corporation, I have been a partner in multiple partnerships, and I make the same decisions my clients make on a daily basis. I also have the added benefit of evaluating how businesses perform and knowing their intricacies as a result of my public practice.” Scott is passionate about getting it right the first time, and works hard to maximize client results by leveraging planning and technology. He enjoys coaching his clients and he often receives accolades for explaining complex topics in simple terms. “Our goal for our business clients is to ensure there are efficient accounting systems and processes that produce accurate financial reporting. We then focus on interpreting and understanding the financial results and developing strategies for performance improvement. We develop tax minimization strategies through ongoing planning and provide financial planning and wealth management services through our affiliate Honkamp Krueger Financial Services (HKFS). Ultimately we want to produce financial results for our clients that exceed our fees.” 

Scott values the opportunity to serve and work in his community, and his civic duties include four and a half years as councilman for the Town of Ridgway, past treasurer of the Ridgway Area Chamber of Commerce, past president and treasurer of the Solar Ranches Homeowners Association, past member of the Ridgway School data committee and four plus years as an officer for Ouray County’s Regional Service Authority.

Scott has two teenage boys and a golden retriever who believes he is human. Scott enjoys spending time with family, reading American history, and his recreational pursuits include motorcycle riding, music, mountain biking, golf and surfing (when he can get there).

Jane Pulliam – Client Accountant & Administrator

Jane Pulliam grew up in Indiana and achieved a Mathematics and Economics degree from Denison University in Ohio. She went on to be an accounting software support technician with UniLink Software in Jackson, WY. After being a telecommuter in Washington State for the same company, she moved with her husband to Colorado to start their own restaurant. They have successfully run Drakes Restaurant now for 11 years and among Jane’s many duties she also functions as the company’s controller. Jane started working part-time for Middleton Accounting & Consulting, Inc in 2005. Her job duties include, client accounting and general company administration.
